Artist Lea Redmond began her miniature postal service in 2008 and I found her on a web site by just good fortune. Loving tiny anything I was taken by her darling little letters she would write for a minium few dollars. She has now designed a kit and one can write their own tiny little letters using tiny little papers and stamps etc. and put into a tiny little postal box. Not everyone is going to "get it" but those of us who do will want it! Drop by the pickle and take a look at the little kit - just in.

Have you seen the new tapes popping up every where? The Japanese washi tapes are masking tape with printed images and designs and can be used for most anything creative. Packaging tapes with designs are fun too but used more on packages to add a fun touch to shipping. Just let your creative juices flow! We have several tapes at the pickle with more on the way.

Not all reusable bags are created equally. In fact some are down right ugly! If you are doing something good for the environment why not be fashionable at the same time by carrying an Envirosax bag. Did you know that over 380 billion plastic bags are used per year by us human beings - now I have not done the math but that is allot of bags per person! The Envirosax unrolled measures 19.5" x 16.5" weighing 1.4 oz. and can carry up to 44 lbs.; rolled up measures only 4" x 1.5" - I see this little light weight bag doing allot of good not to mention adding color and nice images to the world. Mighty wallets are made of Tyvek - basiclly indestructible fabric used in building constuction. The pickle just received a shipment with the lastest designs - you're gonna love 'em. I'm not sure of my favorite but I really do love Mighty Mouse because it reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons many many years ago.

Don't you just love a fresh blank journal? Anticipating making that first entry is rather exciting yet all that blank space can be a bit intimidating.
It may take a few moments but the best thing to do is just do it! I have several favorite jouranls here at the pickle and one of those favorites is the Moleskine. It has so much history, great paper and all the new colors are just the best.

You know I am a card snoot and am quite particular about the card lines coming into the pickle! Amy Rice's cards are being welcomed with open arms and I do hope as you see her cards you will feel the same. She is an amazing artist and although I have not met her personally I just know she is a nice person too. Her colors, images,and messages are nostalgic in a very pleasant sort of way.

I am so excited about the new Love Letter Tags from Papaya! I have wanted these tags for years and finally the pickle has the tags; you're gonna love 'em! It's true don't you agree. Often times we are so busy being busy that we completely miss the "point". Let the coming week be the week you sit down and write just a little note to someone who has made a difference in your life and thank them. 'Cause it's time to take time!

Summer is here and quickly moving - in fact tomorrow is the birthday of our United States of America! Happy Birthday USA! There is so much to do so better get movin'. And I think FUN should be at the top of your list. If you have children please encourage them to be creative and at least active in some form. The pickle has lots sketch books with wonderful colored pencils to help along with darling stationery with the young in mind. Help your child write a letter to a grandparent or aunt, cousin or a friend and I promise you'll both be happy you did.

I'm here to do the "write" thing.

Cherries in the Wenatchee Valley

Over the weekend my husband and I visited my brother's cherrie orchard and OH MY are the cherries beautiful this year.

Another event last week was my birthday. And I did have cake along with glorious chocolate chip cookies Marnye sent via mail. I'm not sure where she found the recipe but she makes the best choc chip cookies I have ever eaten! You know birthdays are a blessing - don't forget!

I love the alphabet and the look of the latest window display at the pickle is one of my favorite. Who could not love the alphabet? Straight lines, curved lines, circles and ovals all just waiting to form a wonderful letter. Pickle Papers has metal letters, alphabet tags and the several alphabet papers for gift wrapping or whatever you choose.

My husband and I have just returned from Maui. Seven days in paradise-what a treat. Speaking of treats- our children gifted us the trip-can you believe it? The weather was fabulous and I was surprised by the warmth of the water (I do not like cold water!). For seven days we enjoyed the beautiful island traveling here and there. If you have not been to Hawaii be very nice to your children and maybe one day they will send you too.

How can it be? One month since last posting on my beloved pickle. Life has been hectic but I do hope it is beginning to calm. My favorite time of the year is now approaching and it is though I can take a deep breath for a moment or two and relax. Wenatchee, Washington has the most beautiful Fall season and if you have not had the pleasure of being here you must visit. Pears, apples, grapes all those wonderful fruits are quickly becoming available. And to celebrate, downtown Wenatchee will host Wenatchee Taste of the Harvest, September 20th. Saint John's Bible

As a scribe I am most interested in the Saint John's Bible. This has been a subject of interest for several years in the calligraphic world and now 100 pages are on display at the Tacoma Art Museum. The Bible is quite an undertaking directed by Mr. Donald Jackson of Wales, former scribe to Queen Elizabeth II. The Saint John's Bible is the first commissioned handwritten Bible in 500 years. The pages will be on display through Sept. 7. Handwritten and illluminated! Can you imagine?

And you know you are credited the same whether you send a ten page letter or just a simple little postcard. Think about sending a cute little postcard to someone you haven't seen for a while. If you know me you know I love the alphabet. While attending the New York Stationery Show one of my favorite finds were these metal letters. The gentleman making the letters is the same person who crafts letters for Martha-and we all know about those cake toppers. Drop by the pickle and you'll find a new display with the whole alphabet and a couple of extras.

How did your weekend go? I actually did a little creative work-what fun! I love covering/lining anything that doesn't move. And that's what I did to a little suitcase-part of a set we now carry at Pickle Papers. Fairly simple-choose a paper, make a pattern and then just start cutting and pasting.

The sweetest story ever about these two was in the latest Somerset Life. Pino even has his own blog,donkey-dreams.blogspot.com, you must check it out.
